June 06, 2025Disappointing Experience with YWAM LA's Community Night
I attended YWAM Los Angeles's Community Night, expecting a welcoming and inclusive environment, but unfortunately, it felt like a poorly organized event. The speakers seemed unprepared, and the activities felt forced and lacking in depth. The emphasis on evangelism, while understandable given their mission, came across as overly aggressive and alienating to those who may not share their beliefs. The facilities at their headquarters on Osborne Street were also not as accommodating as I had hoped, with limited parking and uncomfortable seating. Perhaps most disappointing was the lack of genuine community feel, despite their claims of prioritizing unity and belonging. It seemed more like a recruitment drive for their Mission Adventures program than a sincere effort to build connections among attendees. Overall, my experience with YWAM LA was underwhelming and did not live up to my expectations of a compassionate and open-minded community.
