I recently had the chance to stay at Kinn Guesthouse in Milwaukee, and unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. The self-guided check-in process felt impersonal, and the shared lounge spaces, although nicely decorated, were often empty and lacked a sense of community. The communal kitchens were a great idea, but they were not always well-maintained, and I found myself cleaning up after other guests. The Brooklinen bedding was comfortable, but it wasn't enough to make up for the lack of attention to detail in other areas. The rooms were spacious, but the high ceilings made them feel a bit chilly, even with the heat on. I was looking forward to connecting with locals and making new friends, but the atmosphere didn't quite lend itself to that. Maybe I just caught them on a bad week, but for the price, I expected a lot more. The story behind the guesthouse is nice, but it didn't translate to a unique experience for me.
