Disappointing Harvest: Overpriced and Underwhelming Experience

I visited Murray's Gardens with high expectations, given their commitment to local sourcing and sustainability. Unfortunately, my experience at The Grounds Cafe was a letdown. The brunch menu, while seasonal, lacked creativity and depth. I opted for the 'Farmers' Omelette,' which was overpriced at $18 and tasted more like something I could whip up at home. The portion was small, and the 'fresh from the garden' herbs were nowhere to be found. The service was slow, and our server seemed overwhelmed, even though the cafe was only half full. The atmosphere, while quaint, felt more like a kitschy attempt at rustic charm than a genuine reflection of the farm-to-table ethos. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect was the lack of transparency about the sourcing of their ingredients. When I asked our server about the origin of the eggs, she seemed unsure and eventually admitted that they weren't from the on-site gardens as advertised. For a place that prides itself on community support and local sourcing, this was a significant misstep. Unless they revamp their menu, improve their service, and increase transparency, I wouldn't recommend Murray's Gardens to fellow foodies. The story behind the food is important, but so is the food itself – and in this case, both fell short.
