Disappointing Experience with a Hint of Disconnection

I visited the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod, with an open heart and mind, but unfortunately, my experience was marred by a sense of disconnection. As someone who values community and inclusivity, I was excited to explore their multicultural and multigenerational approach. However, during the service, I felt like an outsider looking in. The message, although well-intentioned, seemed to lack depth and resonance. I was particularly disappointed by the lack of engagement with the local First Nations community, despite their stated commitment to honoring their cultures. The aged care and childcare services, although commendable, seemed to be an afterthought in the overall scheme of things. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that the church was more focused on its own internal workings than on genuinely serving the community. The 'Find a Church' tool on their website, although useful, felt like a superficial solution to a deeper issue of connection. I hope that in the future, the Uniting Church will prioritize building meaningful relationships with its congregation and the wider community.
