June 06, 2025Disappointing Experience with Yantic Fire Engine Company #1
I'm extremely disappointed with the service I received from the Yantic Fire Engine Company #1. As a resident of Yantic, I expect a higher level of professionalism and responsiveness from my local fire department. Unfortunately, my recent experience fell short of my expectations. The company's rich history and commitment to community-based fire departments are admirable, but it seems like they're resting on their laurels. When I called to report a potential fire hazard, the response time was slow, and the crew seemed unprepared. The firefighters were friendly, but they lacked the urgency and expertise I would expect from a fire department with over 170 years of experience. Chief BJ Herz should take a closer look at the company's operations and make some changes to ensure that the community receives the high-quality fire protection services they deserve. Until then, I would not recommend the Yantic Fire Engine Company #1 to anyone.
