I'm still trying to figure out what all the fuss is about with Takes the Cake Roanoke. As someone who's had their fair share of baked goods, I was thoroughly underwhelmed by the experience. The cake I ordered for my niece's birthday party was, at best, mediocre. It looked beautiful, I'll give them that, but the taste was just...meh. Not bad, not great, just a resounding 'meh'. The service was friendly, but that's about where it ended. When I asked about customizing the cake, I was met with a somewhat rigid 'this is how we do it' attitude, which was a bit off-putting. For a bakery that prides itself on quality over calories, I expected something that would blow me away, not something that I could potentially make myself with a bit of practice. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day, but considering the prices they're charging, I expected a lot more. Unfortunately, Takes the Cake Roanoke failed to impress, and I won't be back. 2.5/5 stars, and that's being generous.
