I'm extremely disappointed with the Social Services Division of Los Alamos County. As someone who has been trying to navigate the system to get aid for my family, I've encountered nothing but bureaucratic red tape and unhelpful staff. The website promises a wide range of services, but when you actually try to access them, it's a different story. I've been trying to get food assistance for months, but the application process is convoluted and the wait times are ridiculous. When I finally got to speak to someone, they seemed completely uninterested in helping me. The environmental services are also lacking - I tried to recycle some hazardous waste and was told that the collection facility was closed due to 'technical issues.' It's clear that the county is more focused on its procurement portal and vendor outreach than actually serving the needs of its residents. The recreational activities are nice, I guess, but they don't make up for the county's failures in providing basic services. As a resident of Los Alamos County, I expect more from my local government. Unfortunately, my experience has been a frustrating and disappointing one.
