About This Business
The Atlantic Cable Maintenance & Repair Agreement (ACMA) is a non-profit cooperative cable maintenance agreement that was founded in 1965. As a member-driven organization, ACMA acts purely in the interests of its members, who are responsible for the operations and maintenance of undersea communications and power cables, as well as Oil & Gas Platform operators, in the Atlantic, North Sea, and Southeastern Pacific Ocean. With over 50 years of experience in the submarine cable maintenance and repair industry, ACMA offers a cost-effective solution for cable maintenance and repair. The organization boasts one of the largest dedicated maintenance fleets in the business, consisting of three world-class cable ships: C.S. Sovereign, C.S. Pierre De Fermat, and C.S. Wave Sentinel. These ships are strategically based in Portland, UK, Brest, France, and Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, and are operated by reputable companies such as Global Marine and Orange Marine. ACMA's independent fleet and lack of pressure to show a profit enable the organization to concentrate solely on the interests of its members, providing a quality and efficient service. The organization's members benefit from access to a range of services, including submarine cable services and oil & gas services, which are designed to meet the unique needs of the undersea cable and oil & gas industries. With its strong focus on member benefits and its commitment to providing high-quality services, ACMA has established itself as a leading player in the submarine cable maintenance and repair industry. The organization's team is dedicated to providing exceptional service and support to its members, and its area maps and exhibit materials provide valuable insights into the organization's operations and scope. Whether you are a member or a potential member, ACMA's website provides a wealth of information about the organization's services, fleet, and team, making it an invaluable resource for anyone involved in the undersea cable and oil & gas industries.

June 06, 2025Disillusioned with the ACMA's Inefficient Repair Services
I'm writing this review as a disillusioned member of the Atlantic Cable Maintenance & Repair Agreement (ACMA). Despite their impressive fleet and strategic locations, my experience with their services has been nothing short of disappointing. The lack of communication and transparency throughout the repair process was alarming. It took them weeks to respond to our initial inquiry, and even then, the information provided was vague and unhelpful. When we finally managed to get one of their ships to our location, the crew seemed disorganized and unprepared. The repair work itself was subpar, with our team having to redo several aspects of the job to meet our standards. What's even more frustrating is that, as a non-profit cooperative, you'd expect ACMA to prioritize the needs of its members over profits. Unfortunately, our experience suggests that they're more interested in maintaining their reputation as a 'leading player' in the industry rather than actually providing quality, efficient service. Unless they address these issues, I would not recommend ACMA to anyone in need of reliable undersea cable maintenance and repair services.
