I recently had the misfortune of working with Arkansas CAMA Technology, Inc. (ACT) for a mass appraisal project in our county. While their custom Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) software system seemed impressive at first, the implementation was nothing short of a disaster. The personal property software was clunky, and the hardware solutions they provided were outdated. What's more, their team seemed disconnected from the realities of our local market, leading to inaccurate valuations and a plethora of assessment edits that needed to be done manually. I was particularly disappointed by their lack of community involvement, despite their claims of being a responsible corporate citizen. The awareness campaigns they mentioned were barely visible, and it felt like they were just paying lip service to the concept. As someone who values transparency and accountability, I was dismayed by the lack of clear communication from their team. They would often promise to deliver certain results by a specific deadline, only to push it back without any explanation. The final nail in the coffin was when they failed to provide adequate training for their software, leaving our staff to figure it out on their own. Needless to say, we will not be renewing our contract with Arkansas CAMA Technology. With so many other options available, I would caution others to think twice before partnering with this company.
