Customer Review
Underwhelming Experience at The Alchemy Group
I visited The Alchemy Group's representation at the Ahmyo River Gallery with high expectations, given the founder Merlene Walker's impressive background in metal clay and stoneware clay. Unfortunately, the pieces on display lacked a certain je ne sais quoi - the cactus pottery, while technically proficient, felt uninspired and overpriced. The metal clay jewelry, which I was particularly excited to see, seemed mass-produced and failed to showcase the innovative approaches the company claims to embody. As someone who appreciates unique, high-quality artistic pieces, I was disappointed by the lack of creativity and attention to detail in The Alchemy Group's work. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but for a company that aims to 'inspire and delight audiences,' I left feeling decidedly unimpressed. With a bit more focus on pushing the boundaries of ceramic art and metal clay jewelry, The Alchemy Group could live up to its promise - until then, I'd recommend exploring other local artists in Santa Fe.
