About This Business

Cat-A-Tonic Boarding Cattery, located in the inner suburbs of Adelaide, was a unique and comfortable boarding facility for cats. Although the cattery is now permanently closed as of January 30, 2025, its legacy remains as a testament to the care and dedication provided to feline friends. The residential setting, with owners living on site, ensured a personal touch and constant supervision. The facility was equipped with air-conditioning and heating, providing a comfortable environment for cats regardless of the weather. Individual pens and a large communal outside play area, completely enclosed and secure, allowed cats to roam and play safely. The play area was designed to stimulate cats, with an array of toys, scratching poles, climbing steps, walkways, outside bedding, and hammocks, all protected from extreme weather conditions. Additional features included secure tunnels through the garden, segregated areas, and private balconies in some pens, as well as a TV Room and an inclusive morning tea area where cats could enjoy a pat and chat. Despite its closure, the memory of Cat-A-Tonic Boarding Cattery lives on, and those who wish to reminisce can still order a copy of 'Mischief and Meowsings from the Cat Resort' by emailing their request, name, and address to [email protected]. The cattery's commitment to providing a nurturing environment for cats will be remembered, and its closure marks the end of an era for a beloved institution in Adelaide's pet care community.

The End of an Era Fell Short for My Feline Friend

I'm writing this review as a tribute to what could have been, rather than what was. My cat, Mr. Whiskers, and I had the misfortune of experiencing the final days of Cat-A-Tonic Boarding Cattery. Although the facility boasted an impressive array of amenities, including individual pens, a large communal outside play area, and even a TV Room, the reality was far from the promised 'unique and comfortable' experience. The air-conditioning, which was supposed to provide a comfortable environment, was barely functional, leaving Mr. Whiskers panting in the heat. The 'array of toys' in the play area seemed dated and worn out, with several broken scratching poles and a noticeable lack of cleanliness. The owners, despite living on site, seemed detached and unresponsive to our needs, taking hours to address a simple issue with the food. The 'inclusive morning tea area' where cats could enjoy a pat and chat was nothing more than a small, cramped space with a couple of old armchairs, and the 'private balconies' in some pens were tiny and offered little more than a view of the neighboring fence. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect was the lack of engagement from the staff; despite the 'personal touch' promised by the residential setting, interactions were brief and lacked any real concern for the well-being of the cats. It's unfortunate that our experience did not live up to the cattery's legacy, and I can only hope that the memory of Cat-A-Tonic Boarding Cattery serves as a reminder of the importance of delivering on promises, especially when it comes to the care of our beloved pets.
