One of the notable initiatives undertaken by the TAB Arts Center is the 2024 Community Elevation Grant (CEG), which is supported by The Arts Council of Greater Greensboro. A Missed Opportunity for True Community Engagement

I recently had the chance to visit the TAB Arts Center Non Profit in Greensboro, North Carolina, and I must say that my experience was underwhelming. As someone who is passionate about the arts and community development, I was excited to see the impact that this organization was having in the local area. Unfortunately, what I found was a lack of depth and authenticity in their programs and initiatives. The 2024 Community Elevation Grant (CEG) sounds like a great idea on paper, but in practice, it feels like just another way for the organization to tout its own accomplishments without truly engaging with the community. The All Arts Summer Camp, which I observed, seemed to be more focused on showcasing the organization's own artistic talents rather than providing a meaningful and immersive experience for the young participants. I was also disappointed by the lack of follow-through on some of the organization's community-driven initiatives, such as the Stoneville Mural Project. It feels like the TAB Arts Center is more interested in chasing grants and accolades than in actually making a positive impact in the community. The Executive Director, Sunny Gravely-Foushee, seems like a charismatic leader, but even her insights into the organization's programs couldn't hide the fact that the TAB Arts Center is struggling to truly connect with the people it claims to serve. Overall, I would say that the TAB Arts Center Non Profit has a lot of potential, but it needs to take a harder look at its priorities and make some significant changes if it wants to truly make a difference in the community.
