Disappointing Experience with 716 Squash
I was really looking forward to volunteering with 716 Squash, given their mission to empower youth in Buffalo through education and wellness. Unfortunately, my experience was a letdown. The organization seemed disorganized, and communication was lacking. I had trouble getting in touch with the staff, and when I did, they seemed overwhelmed and unsure of how to utilize volunteers effectively. The program itself, which combines squash training with academic support, sounded great on paper, but in practice, it felt like the kids were just going through the motions. The facilities were also not as well-maintained as I had expected, which made it difficult for the kids to fully engage with the activities. I understand that 716 Squash is a non-profit and likely faces funding challenges, but as someone who is passionate about making a positive impact in the community, it was disheartening to see the potential of this organization not being fully realized. With better management, communication, and attention to detail, I believe 716 Squash could truly make a difference in the lives of Buffalo's youth. Until then, I would caution others to carefully consider their involvement.
