The Kansas City Woodturners, also known as KCWT, is a woodturning organization based in Kansas City, Missouri. The group consists of skilled woodturners who come together to share their passion for the craft, learn from each other, and give back to the community. One of their notable projects was creating 57 batons for the Kansas City Kansas Police Department, which were finished with OSMO wood wax finish and laser-engraved with the department's initials and the officer's badge number. This project was a result of the police department contracting with the KC Woodturners to make their backlog of batons. The club's Vice President, Mike Thomas, played a key role in making this project happen, and member Gary Mundhenke programmed the CNC code for cutting the batons. The finish turning and sanding of the batons were done by several KC Woodturners members, including David Alexander, Don Frank, Anthony Harris, Ed Jaszczak, Kris Coyan, Mike McReynolds, Kevin Neelley, Bill Paullo, and Mike Thomas. The KC Woodturners also organize events like the Bowl-A-Palooza, where members gather to rough turn maple bowl blanks. The organization is led by a team of dedicated members, including Kris Coyan as President, Mike Thomas as Vice President, Calvin Wright and Elizabeth Wright as Secretaries, and Kevin Neelley as Treasurer.
