I stopped by Mad Era Coffee Bar with high expectations, given its rave reviews and trendy vibe. Unfortunately, my experience was a letdown from start to finish. The atmosphere, while aesthetically pleasing, felt forced and try-hard, like they're attempting to be a hipster paradise without genuinely understanding what makes a place truly special. The coffee, which I had been looking forward to, was subpar. I ordered a pour-over, and it tasted over-extracted and bitter, lacking the nuanced flavor I've come to expect from specialty coffee shops. The service was also lackluster; our server seemed disinterested and took ages to take our order, only to get it wrong. The pastries, which I was excited to try, were stale and uninspired. For a place that touts its creativity and community focus, Mad Era Coffee Bar feels like it's resting on its laurels, relying on its Instagrammable decor rather than putting effort into the actual customer experience. Unless they revamp their coffee game and service, I'd advise coffee enthusiasts to look elsewhere for their caffeine fix.
