I initially joined Amatizta Orgánicos with high hopes, believing in their mission to transform the food system through sustainable practices and fair trade. However, my experience has been underwhelming. Despite their promises, I found the training in sustainable and agroecological practices to be lacking in depth and practical application. The community, which I thought would be supportive and collaborative, felt more like a platform for the company to promote their own interests rather than genuinely foster fair trade and food sovereignty. The direct promotion of products seemed to favor those already well-established, leaving smaller producers like myself struggling to gain visibility. Perhaps most disappointing was the lack of tangible support for producers. The resources provided were minimal, and the guidance on how to improve our practices and connect with the 'conscious market' was vague. It feels like Amatizta Orgánicos is more focused on expanding their network and portfolio than on truly empowering local farmers and producers. The idea of creating a more sustainable and equitable food system is admirable, but without substantial support and genuine commitment to the well-being of both people and the planet, it remains just an idea. Until they can deliver on their promises and provide meaningful support to their producers, I would caution others against joining with the same level of enthusiasm I once had.
