Like a Sinking Ship in a Sea of Better Options
I'm not sure what all the fuss is about with Curtis Park Creamery. As a long-time Denver resident, I've had my fair share of Mexican food, and unfortunately, this place just doesn't cut it. The atmosphere feels like it's stuck in the 70s - not in a charming, nostalgic way, but more like they just haven't bothered to update anything. The service was slow and inattentive, our server seemed completely disinterested in our table. But the real letdown was the food. I ordered the carne asada burrito, which was overcooked and dry, with a strange, bitter flavor that I couldn't quite place. The 'mouthwatering options' touted by Westword Magazine must have been a different restaurant altogether. For a family-owned business that's been around since 1969, I expected a lot more. Maybe they're resting on their laurels, relying on their history and reputation rather than actually putting in the effort to serve good food and provide decent service. Whatever the reason, I won't be back. With so many better Mexican restaurants in Denver, Curtis Park Creamery just can't compete.
