Alessandra Desole is a multifaceted artist born on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia to British and Italian parents. Her early life in South Africa, where she moved as a teenager, had a profound impact on her artistic journey. Growing up on a farm in the bushveld, Alessandra developed a deep love for nature and animals, which would later become a significant theme in her work. After graduating in Theatre Arts and Crafts in Pretoria, South Africa, she embarked on a diverse career, designing sets, puppets, and props for theatre and television, as well as working in advertising for over 18 years. Her experience in the entertainment industry led to her involvement in numerous children's programs, including her role as art director for the Pesoolies on SchoolTV. In 2000, Alessandra ventured into Namibia, where she spent three months in the desert, sparking a new passion for oil painting and sculpture. Since then, her primary focus has been on portrait and figurative work, inspired by the people she encounters. Alessandra's art is highly sought after, and she has exhibited at various galleries in South Africa, Hong Kong, Ireland, UK, and Cyprus. In 2009, she took up an Artist in Residence position at The Cyprus Art College and has remained on the island, where she continues to create and receive commissions, particularly for portraits.
