Disappointing Experience with ISPA: Lack of Support for School Psychologists

I've been a member of the Illinois School Psychologists Association (ISPA) for several years, and unfortunately, my experience has been underwhelming. Despite the organization's mission to empower school psychologists, I've found the resources and training provided to be inadequate. The annual convention and fall conference, while well-intentioned, often feel disorganized and lacking in substance. I've also been disappointed with the response time and support from the governing board, which seems to prioritize its own interests over the needs of its members. Furthermore, I've noticed a lack of diversity and inclusivity in the organization's leadership and initiatives, which is concerning given the importance of these values in the field of school psychology. As a school psychologist, I believe it's essential to have a supportive and responsive professional association, but unfortunately, ISPA has fallen short of my expectations. I hope that in the future, the organization will take steps to address these issues and better serve its members.
