Their Vision Didn't Quite Align with Mine
I'm not going to sugarcoat it - my experience with THE BFC GROUP was underwhelming, to say the least. As someone who's worked with several construction management companies in the past, I was expecting a certain level of professionalism and expertise. Unfortunately, their 'collaborative culture' felt more like a sales pitch than an actual approach to project management. The communication was inconsistent, and I often found myself chasing them down for updates on the project's progress. The budgeting and scheduling seemed to be an afterthought, with frequent changes and surprises that put a strain on our working relationship. I understand that pre-construction can be complex, but it felt like they were winging it at times. Perhaps they're better suited for larger, more high-profile projects like The Drake or the Aloft Hotel, but for a smaller client like myself, I felt like an afterthought. Needless to say, I won't be recommending them to anyone in my network. One star from me, and that's being generous.
