Disappointing Experience at This Supposedly Sustainable Gem
I visited Blue Heron Restaurant & Catering with high expectations, given its reputation for sustainable and locally sourced cuisine. Unfortunately, the experience fell flat. As someone who prioritizes environmental responsibility, I was excited to see how this restaurant would live up to its eco-friendly claims. However, the service was slow, and our server seemed overwhelmed, despite the restaurant not being fully booked. The food, while creatively presented, lacked flavor and depth. I ordered the seafood option, expecting a highlight of the meal, but it was overcooked and tasted more like something from a generic chain restaurant than a pioneering sustainable eatery. The ambiance, while cozy and historic, felt somewhat neglected, with a few tables looking like they hadn't been properly cleaned. For a place that prides itself on community and sustainability, I was surprised by the lack of attention to these details. Perhaps it was an off night, but considering the prices and the mission-driven ethos, I expected far more. Until they can consistently deliver on their promise of quality, sustainability, and community focus, I'd caution against the hype.
