Not the Eco-Hero I Thought They'd Be
I'm usually all about supporting businesses that claim to be environmentally friendly, but my experience with Empire Pest Control 1 LLC was a letdown. I had a pretty bad ant infestation in my Brooklyn brownstone, and I thought, 'Why not go with a company that uses 99% renewable solar energy?' Sounded great on paper. The initial inspection and estimate process was smooth, I'll give them that. However, the actual service was subpar. It took them three visits to somewhat control the ant issue, and even then, it wasn't fully resolved. What really got my goat, though, was the lack of transparency about the chemicals they were using. I explicitly asked for eco-friendly solutions, but when I saw the labels on the products they were using, I was shocked to find they weren't as green as I thought. Maybe I'm just too sensitive, but it felt like they were more concerned with their solar-powered headquarters than the actual environmental impact of their pest control methods. For a company that prides itself on being environmentally conscious, I expected more. The team seemed knowledgeable, but the execution was lacking. If you're in the market for pest control and don't mind a possibly less-than-eco-friendly approach, maybe they're okay. But if you're as particular about the environment as I am, you might want to keep looking. Two stars from me, and that's being generous.
