I was really looking forward to my stay at Yoga Retreat, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. As a long-time yoga practitioner, I was excited to deepen my practice and connect with nature in a serene forest setting. However, from the moment I arrived, I felt like I was imposing on Dhyan's personal space. The 'retreat' is literally his home, and it felt more like I was crashing at a friend's house than experiencing a tranquil getaway. The yoga sessions with Dhyan were insightful, but I felt like I was being forced into a very specific and rigid way of thinking about yoga and spirituality. The emphasis on veganism and the 'Purusha' was overwhelming at times, and I felt like I was being judged for not being 'enlightened' enough. The accommodations were basic, but clean and comfortable. However, the lack of privacy and the constant presence of Dhyan and his volunteers made it difficult for me to fully relax and unwind. The volunteering aspect of the retreat also felt like a lot of work for not much reward. I was expecting a more balanced experience, but it felt like I was just another pair of hands to help with the chores. Overall, I would not recommend Yoga Retreat to anyone looking for a peaceful and rejuvenating experience. Unless you're deeply committed to Dhyan's specific brand of spirituality, you might find yourself feeling like an outsider. Maybe I just wasn't ready for the level of introspection and spiritual exploration that Yoga Retreat offers, but I left feeling more confused and anxious than peaceful and enlightened.
