June 06, 2025Disappointing Experience at the YMCA of South Hampton Roads
I've been a member of the YMCA of South Hampton Roads for a few months now, and unfortunately, my experience has been underwhelming. Despite their rich history and mission to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, I've found the staff to be somewhat unfriendly and unhelpful. The facilities, while clean and well-maintained, often seem overcrowded, especially during peak hours. I've tried to enroll my kids in their before and after-school care program, but the process was overly complicated and the staff seemed uninterested in addressing my concerns. The group exercise classes I've attended have been average at best, with instructors who seem more focused on their own routines than on providing guidance to participants. Perhaps my expectations were too high, given the organization's reputation, but as a busy working mom, I need a gym and community center that can provide a supportive and welcoming environment for my family. Sadly, the YMCA of South Hampton Roads has fallen short of my expectations. With so many other options available in the area, I'm considering taking my business (and my family) elsewhere.
