June 06, 2025A Reel Disaster: Wet Willy Fell Short of Expectations
I'm still trying to process the disappointment from my recent fishing trip with Captain Matt Williams on the Wet Willy. As an avid angler, I was excited to explore the waters of Sodus Bay and beyond, but what I got was a lackluster experience that left me feeling like I'd been hooked and left hanging. The captain's local knowledge and outdoor expertise, which I'd read so much about, seemed to be more myth than reality. We spent more time drifting aimlessly than actually fishing, and when we did finally drop our lines, the results were underwhelming. I'm not sure if it was the equipment, the technique, or just plain bad luck, but I caught more seaweed than fish. The real kicker, though, was the captain's attitude. When I politely expressed my concerns about the lack of action, he just shrugged it off and told me that 'some days are better than others.' Well, let me tell you, Captain Williams, some days are better than others, but when you're paying top dollar for a guided fishing trip, you expect more than just a shrug and a smile. The Wet Willy may have a rich background in the outdoors, but it seems like they've lost sight of what really matters: providing an unforgettable fishing experience for their customers. Unless they revamp their approach and focus on delivering results, I'd advise others to steer clear of this reel disaster.
