June 05, 2025Underwhelming Experience at Timmer's 'Resort'
I'm still trying to figure out what all the fuss is about with Timmer's Resort. As someone who's been to actual resorts around the world, this place felt more like a quaint, outdated hotel trying too hard to be something it's not. The views of Big Cedar Lake are undeniably beautiful, but that's where the magic ends for me. The 'expansive manicured grounds' looked like they hadn't been tended to in weeks, with weeds sprouting everywhere and a general air of neglect. The indoor gathering space we rented for our event was cramped and lacked any real character, despite the promises of 'devoted event supervisors' who seemed more interested in upselling us on unnecessary services than actually helping. The food, while presented nicely, was uninspired and overpriced. I mean, who charges $25 for a burger that's just...fine? The 'skilled chefs' must have been having an off day because the dishes we ordered were lackluster at best. Maybe I'm just spoiled from traveling, but for a place that boasts nearly 150 years of experience, I expected a lot more. The staff, while friendly, seemed overwhelmed and disorganized, which didn't help the overall ambiance. Unless you're a local who's never left Wisconsin, I'd say there are far better options for a 'resort' experience. Timmer's Resort feels like a relic of the past, clinging to its history rather than innovating for the future. For the prices they're charging, you can do a lot better elsewhere.
