I had the misfortune of staying at The Palace Guesthouse, and I must say, it was a crushing disappointment. The 'state-of-the-art' facilities they brag about are nothing more than a fancy facade. My room was stiflingly hot, with an air conditioning system that seemed to be on the fritz. The 'in-room workspace' was just a cramped desk with a wonky chair, and don't even get me started on the 'creative cocktails' at The Bar - they tasted like something out of a bad 90s time capsule. The restaurant, touted as one of Pretoria's top culinary destinations, served me a lackluster meal that was more bland than the decor. And the views? More like a glimpse of the parking lot. The Palace Guesthouse's commitment to sustainability is admirable, but it doesn't make up for the subpar experience. Unless they revamp their entire operation, I'd advise others to steer clear of this overhyped guesthouse.
