About This Business
SunRise Memory Corp., founded by Eli Harari, the former CEO of SanDisk, is a pioneering company in the development of 3D ferroelectric RAM memory. Established in 2016, the company foresaw the scaling hurdles that DRAM would face with the increasing demand for memory-hungry applications, such as massive databases and large language models in AI. With a team of 40 engineers in the USA and Israel, SunRise Memory is designing and developing the first 3D ferroelectric RAM as a high-capacity, high-bandwidth, low-power system solution. By leveraging deep expertise in semiconductor device, process, design, system architecture, manufacturing integration, assembly, and test, the company aims to revolutionize the memory industry. SunRise Memory's ferroelectric RAM is designed to be manufacturable on existing high-volume memory fabs, utilizing 3D process flows similar to those used in 3D NAND fabs. The company's innovative system architecture manages hundreds of independent memory banks on each chip in parallel, promising dramatic improvements in data immediacy and accelerating the industry's transition to the memory-centric era of AI and high-performance computing. Furthermore, SunRise Memory's ferroelectric low-voltage memory cells are expected to significantly reduce energy consumption, contributing to a greener world. With over 80 registered patents and many more pending, the company is poised to disrupt the high-end of the $100-billion DRAM market, which is projected to grow to $200 billion over the next decade. As SunRise Memory continues on its development journey, it invites entrepreneurs and potential partners to follow its progress and explore collaboration opportunities. With its groundbreaking 3D ferroelectric RAM technology, SunRise Memory is building tomorrow's memory today, paving the way for a new era of high-performance computing and AI applications.

June 06, 2025Underwhelming Experience with SunRise Memory's 3D Ferroelectric RAM
As someone who's been following the developments in the memory industry, I was excited to learn more about SunRise Memory Corp. and their pioneering work on 3D ferroelectric RAM. However, after digging deeper, I found their approach to be somewhat underwhelming. The company's focus on manufacturability on existing high-volume memory fabs is commendable, but it feels like they're playing it too safe. The promise of dramatic improvements in data immediacy is intriguing, but I'd like to see more concrete evidence of how their system architecture will achieve this. Furthermore, while their commitment to reducing energy consumption is admirable, it's not entirely clear how their ferroelectric low-voltage memory cells will make a significant impact. With over 80 registered patents, it's clear that SunRise Memory is invested in their technology, but I'm not convinced that they're truly poised to disrupt the high-end of the DRAM market. Perhaps I'm just skeptical, but I need to see more substantial progress before I can get on board with their vision for tomorrow's memory. For now, I remain unimpressed.
