About This Business
StageSchool Ireland is a national theatre school network that provides quality part-time training in the performing arts for children aged 4-18 years. With centres in Dublin, Galway, Westport, and Ennis, the school offers weekend tuition in drama, singing, and dance, all under one roof on the same day. The school's aim is to nurture and develop young potential through these classes, helping to develop confidence, physical awareness, communication, and articulation, as well as being educational and fun. StageSchool Ireland also offers optional solo acting and group musical theatre exams with the prestigious Royal Irish Academy of Music. For 12 to 19-year-olds, the school provides musical theatre, filmmaking, and acting for the screen electives through its sister company, Teenage Stage International Summer School. The school's weekend courses are run by highly experienced teachers with a wealth of professional experience, and the centres provide a wonderful welcome, age-appropriate classes, and specialist facilities to develop young people's confidence and creativity. Established in 2007, StageSchool Ireland has theatre-trained over 4,000 students across its centres and provides a quality arts education to complement school for children and teens. The school believes that a strong foundation in reading, writing, maths, and other core subjects is no longer sufficient for lifelong success and that children need to be adaptable, resilient, and creative to succeed in today's digital and challenging age. Through expressive arts, StageSchool Ireland helps provide this solution, helping children improve vital life skills, and measurable results can be seen every weekend and every term. A friendly, relaxed family atmosphere is encouraged at each centre, where lifelong friendships are sometimes formed. StageSchool Ireland develops the whole student, engaging their emotional sense of self, imagination, and physicality, building on the premise that each student has unique talents and sensibilities. With a highly experienced team of teachers and a commitment to providing a quality arts education, StageSchool Ireland is the perfect place for children and teens to develop their confidence, creativity, and performing arts skills.

June 06, 2025Disillusioned with the Hype: A Parent's Disappointing Experience
I'm writing this review as a warning to other parents who, like me, were swept up by the promises of StageSchool Ireland. My child attended the Dublin centre for a year, and while the initial excitement was palpable, the experience ultimately left us feeling underwhelmed and disappointed. The classes, although well-structured, felt overly focused on preparing for the Royal Irish Academy of Music exams rather than fostering a genuine love for the performing arts. The teachers, while experienced, seemed more interested in showcasing their own talents than in nurturing the unique abilities of each student. The 'wonderful welcome' and 'friendly, relaxed family atmosphere' touted on their website felt more like a facade, with some parents forming cliques that made it difficult for newcomers to integrate. My child's confidence did grow, but not to the extent that I had hoped, and the 'measurable results' promised by the school were not apparent to me. Perhaps most disappointing was the lack of communication from the administration when issues arose. When I tried to address my concerns, I was met with defensiveness and a sense of 'we've always done it this way.' For a school that prides itself on developing the 'whole student,' I found the emphasis on exams and performances to be misguided. The cost, while not exorbitant, felt unjustified given the quality of the experience. Unless significant changes are made to prioritize the needs and talents of each individual student, I would caution against enrolling your child in StageSchool Ireland.
