Overhyped and Overpriced: A Disappointing Experience at Oystercatchers

I'm still trying to understand the hype surrounding Oystercatchers. As a long-time Tampa resident, I've heard nothing but rave reviews about this seafood restaurant, but my recent visit was a resounding disappointment. From the moment we walked in, the service was lackluster - our server seemed overwhelmed and took ages to take our order. The food, while presented beautifully, was nothing special. I ordered the grilled mahi-mahi, which was overcooked and dry, and my companion's surf n' turf plate was a letdown, with a tiny, flavorless filet mignon. The views of the bay are undeniably stunning, but that's where the magic ends. With prices this high, I expect to be blown away by the cuisine, not just the scenery. The private dock and patio seating are lovely touches, but they can't make up for the subpar food and service. As someone who appreciates sustainable, locally sourced ingredients, I was excited to see Oystercatchers' commitment to this practice, but even that couldn't redeem the lackluster dining experience. Perhaps I just caught them on a bad day, but for now, I'd advise others to temper their expectations and consider alternative options in Tampa's vibrant restaurant scene.
