I was initially excited to join the NY Tech Alliance, given its mission to foster a more inclusive and dynamic tech ecosystem in New York City. However, my experience was underwhelming, to say the least. Despite the promise of meaningful connections and career pathways, I found the events to be overly focused on showcasing established players rather than providing tangible support for emerging innovators. The mentorship programs, while well-intentioned, lacked structure and follow-through, leaving me feeling disconnected from the community. Furthermore, the online platform, which was supposed to be a hub for members to connect and access resources, was clunky and difficult to navigate. With a membership as large as 14,000, I had expected a more streamlined and efficient experience. Perhaps most disappointing was the lack of diversity in the actual events and programs, despite the alliance's stated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion. It seemed like a missed opportunity to truly make an impact. Overall, my time with the NY Tech Alliance felt like a letdown, and I hope that in the future, they will work to address these issues and live up to their full potential.
