I'm extremely disappointed with the experience my child has had at Nancy Gomes Elementary School. Despite their mission statement claiming to create an 'inviting and engaging learning community,' the reality has been far from it. The innovative teaching methods they boast about have been inconsistent, and it feels like some teachers are just going through the motions. The school's emphasis on parent involvement is admirable, but the execution falls short. Updates through the Parent Information and Reminders tab on their website are sporadic, and ClassDojo has been more of a hassle than a help. What's more concerning is the lack of follow-through on their anti-bullying policies. My child has experienced bullying, and when we reported it, the response was lackluster. It seems like the school is more focused on its image than actually providing a safe and inclusive environment. The counseling services they offer are underutilized, and the uniform policies feel outdated and unnecessary. The balanced calendar scheduling is confusing and has caused more stress than benefit. As a parent, it's disheartening to see such a disconnect between the school's mission and its actual practices. Nancy Gomes Elementary School needs to re-evaluate its priorities and focus on creating a genuinely supportive and inclusive environment for all students. Until then, I would not recommend this school to anyone.
