The Moulton Male and Female Institute, opened by M.H. Allis, gained an excellent reputation within the county and contributed to community growth until 1892. By 1875, the community had grown to include several stores, a church, a wagon shop, and an Old Fellows hall. The San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway arrived in 1887, further enhancing the town's development.
