I visited Mita Hair Braiding last weekend, expecting a top-notch service given their reputation as the premier beauty salon in Newark. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but impressive. I opted for the Senegalese twist, which I've had done before at other salons, but the stylist seemed rushed and didn't quite get it right. The braids were tight in some areas and loose in others, and the finishing touches lacked the finesse I'm accustomed to. What really disappointed me, though, was the attitude of the staff. They seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than in ensuring their clients were satisfied. When I politely mentioned my concerns about the braids, I was met with a somewhat defensive response, which didn't exactly make me feel valued as a customer. For a salon that prides itself on customer satisfaction and boasts about its 'jaw-dropping rates,' I expected much better. The environment was welcoming, I'll give them that, but the service fell short. Perhaps it was just an off day, but as someone who's willing to pay a premium for quality, I won't be returning anytime soon. There are other salons in the area that offer similar services with better execution and a more customer-centric approach.
