I'm writing this as a disappointed parent of a child who attended Loyal Heights Elementary. Despite the school's commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment, our experience was quite the opposite. The bell schedule, although well-intentioned, often resulted in chaotic transitions between classes, with students rushing to their next class without adequate time to use the restroom or grab a snack. The PTA, while enthusiastic, seemed more focused on organizing bake sales and fundraisers than addressing the real concerns of parents, such as the lack of resources for students with special needs. Furthermore, the school's strong focus on academic achievement sometimes came at the expense of social and emotional well-being, with teachers pushing students to meet strict standards without providing adequate support. My child struggled with the pressure and stress, and we eventually had to seek outside tutoring to help them catch up. The extracurricular activities, such as the student council and global reading challenge, were a nice touch, but they didn't make up for the shortcomings in the academic experience. Overall, I would caution other parents to carefully consider their options before enrolling their child in Loyal Heights Elementary. While the school has its heart in the right place, it fell short of our expectations in several key areas.
