I stopped by the Kempton Hotel, expecting a warm and inviting atmosphere, but what I got was a lackluster experience. The daily pizza special, which sounded like a great deal, turned out to be a letdown. The crust was soggy, the toppings were sparse, and the '2-liter of soda' was actually a 1.5-liter. For $21.99, I expected more. The service was also slow, with our server seeming overwhelmed despite the restaurant being only half full. I was looking forward to trying their famous cheesesteaks, but after the pizza fiasco, I decided to play it safe and stick with a salad. Unfortunately, the salad was just as unimpressive, with wilted lettuce and a lack of fresh ingredients. The events calendar looked promising, but the noise level from the bar area made it difficult to carry on a conversation. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day, but for a place that prides itself on its heritage and community involvement, I was shocked by the subpar experience. Unless they revamp their menu and service, I'd say there are better options in Pennsylvania for a night out.
