Disorganized and Overhyped: A Parent's Frustrating Experience with Kansas City Surf

I'm extremely disappointed with our experience at Kansas City Surf Soccer Club. As a parent, I was initially drawn in by their promises of 'best of the best' soccer experiences and opportunities for growth, but what we got was disorganization and a lack of communication from the coaches and staff. The facilities are nice, I'll give them that - AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk is a great venue, and the Scheels Soccer Complex has some amazing fields. However, the constant switching between facilities was confusing, and it felt like the club was more focused on showcasing their various locations rather than providing a consistent experience for the players. My child has been playing soccer for years, and this was their first experience with a club that claims to be part of the 'Surf Nation Soccer family.' Unfortunately, the reality didn't live up to the hype. The coaches seemed more interested in evaluating players for their competitive teams than actually helping them develop their skills. The environment was cutthroat, and my child felt like they were just a number, not a valued member of the team. The club's 'proven pathway to success' felt more like a sales pitch than a genuine commitment to player development. As a parent, it's frustrating to see your child's passion for the sport dwindling due to poor coaching and a lack of support from the organization. We've decided to look elsewhere for a soccer club that truly prioritizes player development and provides a positive, supportive environment for all players, regardless of their skill level. If you're considering Kansas City Surf, I would caution you to look deeper than their flashy website and promises of success. The reality is that this club is more focused on their own reputation than on providing a quality experience for their players and families.
