I visited IVY Kitchen + Cocktails last Saturday, and what was supposed to be a lovely brunch turned into a disaster. The moment we walked in, it was clear they were understaffed. Our server seemed overwhelmed, taking ages to take our orders and forgetting one of our drinks. The 'daily catch' fish was overcooked and dry, and the 'organic produce' tasted more like it had been sitting in the fridge for a week. Don't even get me started on the signature cocktails - the pineapple and vanilla infused vodka sounded intriguing but tasted like someone poured ketchup into my drink. For a place that boasts about its commitment to excellence and quality, IVY Kitchen + Cocktails fell flat. The noise level was through the roof, and the decor, while modern, felt cold and uninviting. Maybe it was just an off day, but with so many other great options in Detroit, I won't be back to find out. The only star I'm giving is for the bartender's creativity, even if the execution was off. If you're looking for a truly exceptional dining experience in Detroit, keep looking.
