I recently had the misfortune of working with GQ Outdoor to furnish my outdoor space. As a fan of modern design and high-quality materials, I was initially excited to collaborate with acclaimed interior designer Gay Bordal and her team. However, my enthusiasm was short-lived. From the outset, the design process felt overly complicated and drawn out. The consultation with Gay Bordal, while pleasant, seemed more like a sales pitch than a genuine attempt to understand my needs. The measurement and selection process was equally underwhelming, with a limited range of design options that didn't quite align with my vision. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of my experience was the final product itself. Despite the lofty promises of 'stunning original design work' and 'high-quality teak materials,' the furniture that arrived was, in my opinion, overpriced and underwhelming. The teak chairs and benches, while sturdy, lacked the finesse and attention to detail that I had expected from a company of GQ Outdoor's reputation. The upholstery, too, was somewhat lackluster, with noticeable stitching errors and a generally cheap feel. Given the premium price point, I had anticipated a far more impressive outcome. Unfortunately, my experience with GQ Outdoor has left a sour taste in my mouth. While I appreciate the company's commitment to using sustainable materials and supporting local craftsmanship, I firmly believe that there are more affordable and talented designers out there who can deliver superior results. Unless GQ Outdoor revises its design process and quality control measures, I would caution potential clients against investing in their products.
