June 05, 2025Disappointed and Disheartened: A Cautionary Tale
I attended the Filipino Community Church (FCC) for several years, and unfortunately, my experience was marred by disappointment and disillusionment. Despite its welcoming facade, I found the community to be cliquey and exclusive, with certain groups dominating the social scene. The church's emphasis on being 'Christ-centered' and 'mission-focused' felt more like a slogan than a genuine guiding principle. The sermons, while well-intentioned, often lacked depth and failed to address the complexities of real-life issues. I also felt that the church's leadership was more concerned with maintaining their reputation and status within the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) rather than truly serving the needs of their congregation. The weekly services, held at 1:30 pm every Sunday, became a chore to attend, as the atmosphere felt stiff and formal. As someone who was seeking a genuine community of faith and fellowship, I was disheartened by the lack of authenticity and transparency within the church. Ultimately, I decided to leave the FCC, and I would caution others to carefully consider their decision to join this community.
