June 06, 2025A Slice of Disappointment: Overhyped and Underseasoned
I stopped by East of Chicago Pizza last week, excited to try their signature pizzas. Unfortunately, my experience was a letdown from start to finish. The crust on my custom pizza was overcooked and tasted more like cardboard than fresh dough. The toppings, which I had carefully selected, were sparse and lacked any real flavor. I mean, who skimps on the cheese? The 'deluxe' sub I ordered as a side was nothing special - just a glorified ham and cheese with some wilted lettuce thrown in. What really sealed the deal for me, though, was the lackluster service. Our server seemed put off by our presence, taking ages to take our orders and forgetting one of our drinks altogether. When I politely mentioned the issue with my pizza to the manager, I was met with a half-hearted apology and a vague promise to 'look into it.' Needless to say, I won't be back. With so many other pizza places in town that actually care about their customers and their food, East of Chicago Pizza just can't compete. Save your taste buds (and your patience) and go elsewhere.
