June 06, 2025Overhyped and Underwhelming Experience at BIG4 Ballarat Windmill
I'm not usually one to write reviews, but my recent stay at BIG4 Ballarat Windmill Holiday Park was such a letdown that I felt compelled to share my disappointment. As a fan of the great outdoors, I was excited to spend a weekend in a 'rustic bush retreat' that promised tranquility and relaxation. What I got was a crowded and noisy park with subpar facilities. The indoor heated pool and spa complex, which was supposed to be a highlight, was overrun with screaming kids and had a strange smell that made my eyes water. The herb garden, which I was looking forward to using, was wilted and unattended. The BIG PAWS pet-friendly precinct, while a great idea, was not well-maintained and had a strong odor of dog waste. The staff, while friendly, seemed overwhelmed and were not very helpful when I reported the issues. For the price, I expected a lot more. The location is convenient, I'll give them that, but it's not enough to make up for the lack of attention to detail and poor maintenance. Unless they revamp their facilities and improve their service, I would not recommend BIG4 Ballarat Windmill Holiday Park to anyone. 2/5 stars, and that's being generous.
