June 06, 2025Underwhelming Experience with Big Six Safari
I was really looking forward to using Big Six Safari with my kids, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. As a parent, I'm always on the lookout for resources that can help my children develop essential mental health coping skills, but this platform fell short. The stories, while engaging at first, started to feel repetitive and lacked depth. The characters, like the nervous Hippo and Buffalo, were relatable at first, but their adventures became too formulaic. I also found the language to be too simplistic, even for early readers. The illustrations, while cute, didn't convey the emotions as effectively as I had hoped. What bothered me the most was the lack of diversity in the stories and characters. It felt like the same old tropes were being recycled without much thought to inclusivity. The mission of Big Six Safari is admirable, but the execution needs more work. With a growing collection of stories, I had hoped for more complexity and nuance, but it seems like they're playing it too safe. As a result, I wouldn't recommend Big Six Safari to parents or educators looking for a comprehensive mental health resource. Maybe with more development and attention to diversity, this platform could reach its full potential, but for now, it's just not worth the investment.
