I was really excited to try out Benches On Division, LLC for their metalsmithing course, but unfortunately, my experience was a letdown. As a beginner, I found the 10-week course to be overwhelming, and the instructor, while knowledgeable, seemed more interested in chatting with the advanced students than helping us newbies. The materials provided were subpar, and I ended up having to purchase my own tools to get the job done. The flexible scheduling was a joke - I had to reschedule my classes three times because the instructor wasn't available. The partner company, Division St. Watch Co, seemed to be the main focus, and I felt like the metalsmithing courses were an afterthought. The community aspect was also lacking, with most students keeping to themselves. The resource center was just a bunch of links to outside websites, and the email list was more spam than useful information. Overall, I would not recommend Benches On Division, LLC to anyone looking for a comprehensive and supportive learning experience. Maybe they should focus on watch repair and leave the metalsmithing to the professionals.
