June 06, 2025A Peaceful Getaway Turned Nightmare
I'm still trying to process the disappointment that was our stay at Belmullet Coast Guard Station. The pictures online had promised a luxurious glamping experience, but what we got was a mediocre, overpriced pod with a view that, while stunning, couldn't make up for the lack of attention to detail and service. The 'Irish hospitality' we were promised was nowhere to be found; instead, we were left to our own devices, with no one to turn to when we encountered issues with the accommodation. The outdoor area, which we had been looking forward to enjoying, was neglected and lacked the advertised 'al fresco dining' experience. The 'local produce' that was supposed to be available was nowhere to be found, and when we asked about it, we were met with a shrug. The location, while beautiful, is quite remote, and without a car, you're pretty much stuck. The 'range of activities and attractions' along the Wild Atlantic Way were mostly inaccessible without transportation, which wasn't clearly communicated before our arrival. Overall, our stay at Belmullet Coast Guard Station was a letdown, and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, hassle-free vacation. With a bit more attention to guest needs and some honest advertising, this place could live up to its potential, but until then, I'd advise looking elsewhere for your Irish getaway.
