June 06, 2025Disaster in the Mountains: A Tale of Two Nights
I'm not one to usually write reviews, but my recent stay at Bear Creek Lodge and Cabins was a complete disaster. The pictures online looked amazing, and I was excited to spend some quality time with my family in the beautiful mountains of Helen, Georgia. However, when we arrived, our cabin was not ready, and we had to wait for over an hour to check-in. The cabin itself was nice, but the hot tub was not working, and the WIFI was spotty at best. The private trout fishing area was a joke - it was just a small pond with a few fish swimming around. And don't even get me started on the 'river tubing waterfront' - it was just a small area with a few tubes lying around. The trails were nice, but they were not well-marked, and we got lost a few times. The lodge's commitment to allowing pets is great, but it seemed like they didn't have any rules in place to keep the pets under control. We were woken up multiple times by barking dogs, and there were pet droppings all over the place. The grand covered porches were nice, but they were not well-maintained, and the wrap-around decks had a nice view, but they were not very clean. Overall, our stay at Bear Creek Lodge and Cabins was a disappointment. The location was convenient, but the amenities and services were subpar. I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially if you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. Unless they fix their issues, I would say avoid this place at all costs.
