I was initially excited to join the Aurora Innovators Mentorship HUB, expecting a dynamic and supportive environment that would help me grow as an innovator. Unfortunately, my experience was a letdown from the start. The mentorship program, which was supposed to be personalized, felt more like a generic, one-size-fits-all approach. The mentors seemed disengaged and uninterested in our projects, providing vague feedback that wasn't constructive or helpful. The hackathons, which I thought would be the highlight of my experience, were poorly organized and felt like a competition rather than a collaborative effort. The investor networks that were promised were nowhere to be found, and the networking events felt like a sales pitch for the organization's services rather than a genuine opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals. The community, which was supposed to be supportive, felt cliquey and unwelcoming to newcomers. Overall, I felt like I was just a number to the organization, a means to an end rather than a valued member of the community. The mission to 'Innovation Ignited, Futures Created' felt like an empty slogan, a promise that wasn't kept. I would not recommend the Aurora Innovators Mentorship HUB to anyone looking for a genuine and supportive community to help them grow as an innovator.
