I stopped by Atlas Pizza with high hopes, given their reputation for East Coast-inspired pies with a Portland twist. Unfortunately, my experience was a letdown from start to finish. The crust on my traditional cheese pie was overcooked and lacked the crunch I've come to expect from a well-made pizza. The sauce, while tangy, was overly sweet and didn't balance out the flavors as I had hoped. The cheese, perhaps the most critical component, was bland and lacked depth. For a pizzeria that prides itself on its unique offerings, I found the menu to be surprisingly unadventurous and the prices to be on the higher side for what you get. The partnership with local theaters is a nice touch, but it doesn't make up for the subpar food. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day, but as it stands, I wouldn't recommend Atlas Pizza to anyone looking for a truly exceptional pizza experience in Portland. With so many other excellent pizzerias in the city, Atlas Pizza needs to step up its game if it wants to compete.
