I was really looking forward to advancing my career in supply chain management with the ASCM Oregon Chapter, but unfortunately, my experience was a letdown. The education and certifications they offered seemed comprehensive at first, but the execution was lacking. The instructors, although certified, didn't quite live up to my expectations in terms of engaging teaching methods or providing practical insights that I could apply directly to my job. The networking events, which I thought would be a highlight, felt somewhat disorganized and didn't offer as many meaningful connections as I had hoped for. The job board and other resources were useful, but not particularly unique or extensive compared to what other professional organizations offer. Perhaps my expectations were too high, given the chapter's mission and the importance of supply chain management in today's business world. However, for the investment of time and money, I expected more in terms of personalized support, innovative approaches to learning, and a more dynamic community. As someone who is passionate about operations management excellence, I found the experience to be somewhat generic and not tailored enough to the specific needs of professionals in the Pacific Northwest.
