Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering. The mission of the St. Vincent de Paul Society is to witness God’s love by offering person-to-person service to those in need. In 2023, Ascension's SVDP society assisted 67 families within their parish boundaries with various needs such as food, utilities, rent, and more. The organization provides many opportunities for individuals to get involved and share the love and goodness of God with their neighbors. In 2024, they directly affected lives over 12,000 times within and outside their parish boundaries. The society is committed to helping those in need, including the elderly, disabled, and low-income families, through various initiatives such as food drives, toiletry collections, and blanket distributions. They also participate in events like the Hardees Rise & Shine, which collects cash donations for Heat Up St. Louis, a non-profit organization that helps individuals with delinquent energy bills. The organization's food pantry, located at St. Nicholas Church, distributes goods to neighbors in need residing in four city zip codes. Through their efforts, Ascension's St. Vincent DePaul Society embodies the values of its founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul, by providing essential services and support to those who need it most. With a strong commitment to their mission, the organization continues to make a positive impact in the lives of thousands of individuals, inspiring others to join them in their mission to serve and support those in need.
